In determining positions through GSP one often thinks of using GSM, or GPRS for transferring data from the vehicles to the office. GPRS is not always necessary. This is proven by Hansen Dranken BV, a Dutch transport company. Thom Mertens, who is responsible for planning activities at Hansen, knew that RF would be the ideal solution for the company. Wim Hansen,CEO, agrees: "We would like to know where our vehicles have been, but do not need to know right away." Thanks to Fleetlogic's RF, Hansen avoids certain costs for communication systems, but can produce a complete chart of rides without intervention of the drivers.
Largest Beverage Wholesale Business
Hansen Dranken was established in 1947 and is now one of the largest independent beverage wholesale businesses in the Netherlands. Hansen Dranken is a key player in the drinks business in the Netherlands. Since the 1990's Hansen cooperates with Leeuw Brewery, and has become an official agent for this brewery. New is the introduction of two brands which they own themselves. They have a modern fleet of 15 trucks, which is deployed to deliver all sorts of beverages to wholesale companies, catering companies, and retail businesses throughout the Netherlands.
Ride registration compared with actual ridden routes
The Fleetlogic solution is mainly used to compare the planned routes with the routes actually ridden. "That is the reason why the trucks are equipped with GPS, so we can make a check afterwards and make a chart of the route the driver took." Mertens says. Next to comparing the planned routes and actual routes, the solution also simplifies some of the administrative routines. On top of all this, Hansen has had a fine acquitted thanks to Fleetlogic. "We were able to prove that our vehicle was somewhere else at the time it was fined."
