Reading out digital data is easy
The company has used Fleetlogic board computer systems for a long time. They have recently decided to trade in the original system for a wireless registration solution. This is a wireless transfer of data to the internet, which can be easily read out at any time. This way, the actual data carrier is history. According to H.Veening, foreman at Dakspecialist Naarden, not everyone was as determined as they should be with reading out data from the carrier and the system was coming to a dead end. "Add to that the fact that not everyone could actually hand in their data, because for some it was not necessary to come to the office every week." says Veening. The solution of wireless transfer of data to the internet, not only solves this problem, but also keeps the Administration dept. free of people walking in and out, all at one go.
Mileage Tax Registration
The new Fleetlogic solution is mainly used for automatically generated reports for the Tax Office. The employee can determine for himself what type of ride he is making through the instalment of a so-called P/W/Z switch. "Because the location can also be recorded for each ride, we can save our employees a lot of hassle. And at the same time, this system gives us a an accurate insight into working hours and travelling time of our employees." Says Veening. To further minimize the administration for each employee in the field, the company is now considering linking the Fleetlogic board computer, located inside the vehicle, to a handheld device or laptop. This can always be added afterwards because the system is modular. Next to the registration of mileage, working hours and ride data, even more information can be added to the system, such as the usage of materials.
Keeping up with communication costs yourself.
According to Veening, the old Fleetlogic board computers have been their money's worth more than their share after all these years. It was therefore that the choice for again a Fleetlogic solution was easily made. Furthermore, Veening states that building in the new systems went very smooth and there was hardly any pressure on the organisation throughout the entire process. "Everything was planned and executed in no-time, and we have been working with the new systems for several months now." Says Veening. In his opinion it is a big advantage that you can keep up with communications costs yourself. "Because we can determine ourselves how many times data has to be send from the vehicle and how many times a location has to be recorded, we can keep communication costs at a minimal level." Veening says. This way, the Service dept. can easily track and trace a service vehicle, whereas this is not as important to vehicles assigned to projects.
